Double Journal Entry 2
"Video games provide the learner with real environment that gives the students chance to stimulate what they want to learn. Now, there are many examples of using the video games in school. According to BBC News many educators do not use video games in learning. They think this kind of technology is only for fun and does not benefit their children. This point of view is wrong. According to many researchers, children can learn more effectively when they play video games than when they read books."
I have mixed emotions about this statement. On one hand I feel that video games are just what the title indicates, games but I also feel that if used properly and in moderation they can be a useful tool in education. I don't think you can just turn a child loose and let them play a game and expect them to learn important comcepts. However, if used in an appropriate manner they can reenforce what is being taught.

My survey results said I was a visual learner, which I would agree with. Technology can greatly support this learning style. Youtube video and other online media can be viewed 24/7 and you can find a video of instructions on how to do just about anything humanly possible. Another way technology can support this style is by all the new gadets such as remote control cars, airplanes, heavy equipment, etc. Technology has allowed us to make exact replicas of all of these and much more so you can learn how all of these things work without actually having to have a full size object.

"Simply put, we can’t keep preparing students for a world that doesn’t exist. We can’t keep ignoring the formidable cognitive skills they’re developing on their own. And above all, we must stop disparaging digital prowess just because some of us over 40 don’t happen to possess it. An institutional grudge match with the young can sabotage an entire culture."
I strongly agree with statement because it makes perfect sense. Why should we continue to try to prepared todays children for yesterdays world? Its pointless and a waiste of time, money, and resources to pretend that technology isn't a huge part of todays society or that the impact of technology isn't going to continue to grow. Older people may have not had the gadgets and tools that are presented to children today but simply put they are here now so they should be used.

Wordle
I learned that the most common hobby, based on my poll results, is reading. I also think that for the most part everyone enjoys something a little different.
